French Woman: Kidnapper in Mexico?

Post  Cool Egg Sandwich on Wed Feb 16, 2011 3:55 am

I am going to refrain from commenting on this for a little while, but just put yourself in this woman's shoes. Imagine being away from home, where she is, facing what she is facing.

Just check out the story. It's a very poignant example of how 'crime' is handled by the Mexican government, and how it is largely related to promoting a 'tough' image. I would love to discuss topics related to this with anyone if there are any questions about Mexican society. I am not claiming to be an expert, but I might have some insight, especially if it involves the drug trade.

any one who commits any crime in any foregin nation should just be exoprted and not allowed to return, and it should be worked out that their domestic justice system would deal with them.

I'm not sure if I posted the best account of the story, but the circumstances around the 'conviction' are incredibly shady. Not only does she have an alibi, and testimony that she was not at the residence when the kidnapping was attested to have occurred, but the children have had multiple discrepancies in their testimonies.

You may say that eye-witness testimony is faulty, and that the children are merely forgetting because they are just children. However, in one instance a young boy had said that the French woman had attacked her, and that a mark on her hand was a scar from the attack. upon further investigation, it was discovered that the 'mark' on the child's hand was nothing more than a pre-existing 'birthmark'. There are other circumstances of this trial which are kind of shady: People withdrawing statements in her defense and others refusing to testify, at all.

yea, i kind of got that from reading it (that the conviction was probably pretty shaddy)

my statement was just a generalized statment about anyone who commits a 'crime' in a foregin country.

Yeah if it can be shown, in an unbiased fashion, that a person has been given due process, and found guilty according to the evidence, then national sovereignty should be respected. In this case, it seems like a perversion of the Mexican justice system. This poor woman could spend the rest of her life in prison basically because of pre-existing corruption within Mexican government / military / police.

I am just of the attitude, that even if it is blatant that the person did it, they should be tried in their own country.

all this other countries trying citizens of different nations bull $hit i think is retarded.

because it allows too much for a judge to want to get some attention and 'stand up for his country and show this foreginer how we do buisness'.

its the same stuff with Amanda Knox, and now her parents were indited for libel...i mean its a freaking joke.

or like back in the day when an american kid graffitted or something in a different country and they whipped him for it...i mean come on, its a bit absurd.
